The American Academy of Audiology annual gathering opens its doors to thousands of audiologists, hearing aid dispensers, doctors, presenters, exhibitors and students today.

31st AAA conference celebrates the ‘Best of Audiology’

Running until Saturday 30th March, the conference welcomes delegates from across North America and the rest of the world to the Greater Columbus Convention Centre in Columbus, Ohio.

For its 31st year, the AAA celebrates the ‘Best of Audiology’, with four days of education, networking and discovery across hundreds of learning labs, featured sessions, industry updates, exhibitor courses, research podiums, learning modules, student sessions and more than 200 posters. Add to that hundreds of exhibitors spread across hundreds of thousands of square feet of exhibit space and there truly is something for everyone, whatever their audiology speciality.

Several mini conferences run in parallel with the main event. The Academy Research Conference (ARC) on the first day is looking at advances in amplification. The third Global Conference on Central Auditory Processing Disorder is on Saturday at the same time as the Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) one-day conference. Congratulations to the SAA which is celebrating 10 years!

Mix, mingle and learn!

New for this year is the Audiology Career Enhancement (ACE) Symposium, which seeks to help with non-clinical skills. Conference Chair, Erin Miller, told Audiology Worldnews, “We’re thrilled that over 120 people have already registered. We are bringing in an improv group that works with businesses, attorneys, and outside healthcare to focus on non-clinical skills to help audiologists grow as professionals and leaders. They really try to enhance your ability to think on your feet, so this is a hands-on opportunity I’m very excited about. We have great audiologists, but I also think it’s important to learn from others.”

Onsite registration is now open for all these events; lectures are underway and its not long until the official opening of the exhibition space. Celebrate Audiology is a fun-filled way to kick-off the first evening of AAA. Everyone is invited to the exhibit hall to enjoy the entertainment; mingle with colleagues and industry representatives and partake in the open bars and food available in and around the booths.
