Digitization a focus for the German audiology congress

EUHA 2018

From Wednesday 17th October, thousands of audiologists, doctors, students, hearing aid dispensers and industry personnel will descend on Hannover for the 63rd European Union of Hearing Aid Acousticians (EUHA) Congress.

Digitization a focus for the German audiology congress

For three days, 8,000 delegates are expected to walk the exhibition halls at the Deutsche Messe Convention Center and engage in a full program of events.

The main topic for the congress is “Digitization” which Martin Blecker, President of the EUHA, acknowledges is nothing new for the audiology profession, “We are familiar with digital developments.” However, “At second glance, it becomes apparent that digitisation is an ongoing process. Not only experts like us are dealing with it today, but also end customers. This development requires a different attitude towards the customer, a new service approach. The role of the hearing aid acoustician is changing. The Congress will shed light on the perspectives and opportunities resulting from this development. Teleaudiology will be among the topics of the conference”.

In addition to digitization and teleaudiology, more than 20 lectures will focus on cognition, connectivity, hearing aid technology, hearing aid fitting, accessories, and communication. Distinguished speakers will present their research findings, clinical assessments and opinions in the lecture hall, at tutorials and in round table sessions.

And then there is the trade exhibition which showcases all the advances in hearing technology. This year 130 exhibitors are expected to offer their latest innovations in hearing instruments, cochlear implants, measurement equipment, earmoulds, accessories, batteries and much more for delegates to review. With the pre-announcements from some of the companies involved, the exhibit hall promises to be a hive of activity and a popular meeting and connection space for colleagues and audiology friends from across the globe.
