Spain's big cities host big advances in audiology education and research
With recruitment continuing to be a major problem for audiology in European countries, providing education and training is seen as one of the possible solutions. Spain has advanced in this respect, and to the benefit of French audiology students, who can return and use the qualification they obtain in their southern neighbouring country.

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC) has launched Spain's first specialised audiology laboratory, AudioLab, a facility for teaching and research, but also a provider of healthcare.
This provision of technical resources is also part of the efforts of its promoters in trying to ensure that "the figure of the audiologist is recognised as part of a health profession", the promoters of AudioLab calling their centre "one of the most cutting-edge in Europe"
In 2023, the UVic-UCC Faculty of Medicine became the country's first higher education centre to offer an official Audiology degree, and in June 2027 its first graduates will don their gala gowns. The dean of the faculty, Roberto Elosua, has stated that the AudioLab "is a clear reflection" of his academic institution's commitment to Audiology studies, "and above all in its quality."
