BAA UPDATE - May 2025

Department of Health & Social Care announces Paediatric Audiology review   BAA has welcomed Health Secretary Wes Streeting's announcement of a review into paediatric audiology but is disappointed by how long it has taken. Audiology teams across the UK have been working under significant pressure to address concerns, often with limited support and inconsistent regional approaches. Much of the progress has relied on a few committed experts, and we remain concerned that in some areas, the focus has shifted too quickly toward blame rather than long-term improvement. Our members are doing their best under challenging conditions-managing large volumes of data, staffing pressures, and conflicting system demands. We need a clear, coordinated roadmap for meaningful change...
