Recent slump in UK sales belies "positive" year-on-year hearing instrument performance

UK hearing instrument sales dropped in most sectors from the first quarter of 2025 to Q2, but the figures do not reflect the overall trend towards better year-on-year performance, says the body issuing the data, the British Irish Hearing Instrument Manufacturers Association (BIHIMA).
The Q2 reduction in private, public and ROI sales - with a small increase in rechargeable units - might have many different reasons, says BIHIMA Chairman Paul Surridge, who nevertheless remains sanguine about the rolling picture.
Public (NHS) hearing instrument sales dropped by 8.1% (from 491k in Q1 to 451,463 in Q2), and private sales by 4.9% (from 130k in Q1 to 124,236 in Q2)....
