9th Judith Gravel Fellowship in Pediatric Audiology

With the fellowship established in collaboration with the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA, the foundation supports outstanding audiology students with an annual grant of 15,000 US dollars.

“Dr. Judith Gravel, who passed away in 2008, was internationally acclaimed for her knowledge and expertise in the field of pediatric audiology and for her numerous contributions to clinical research. She will be remembered as someone who always endeavored to improve training and educational opportunities for students and medical professionals,” says Professor Richard Seewald, a member of the Hear the World Foundation’s Advisory Board. “With this fellowship, we continue to advance her mission and legacy.”

The Judith Gravel Fellowship is awarded each year to a fourth-year Doctor of Audiology (AuD) student whose externship is completed at UNC Hospitals with a focus on audiological management of infants and young children with hearing loss. The $15,000 award covers the period beginning June through May of the following year in order to help support the student’s educational needs in pursuing a career in pediatric audiology. The 2017-2018 recipient is Hannah Dorothy.
