Ultras from Phonak storm Nuremberg in slick surprise show
The 69th EUHA Congress had a major preface on October 21, in the form of a launch event hosted by Phonak for early arrivers at the Nuremberg-based Congress. Not a EUHA event, the show drew a huge crowd.
Nuremberg. 21.10.2025 First surprise: New Sonova CEO, Eric Bernard takes the stage to “shoot for the moon” with the Phonak brand’s Infinio Ultra range. In fact, in his short punchy address, the Sonova boss and his Group Vice President of Audiological Care, Oliver Lux, gave away the planned surprise unveiling of these new Infinio models, the event initially posed as a celebration of the recently announced Virto R Infinio.
Master of ceremonies, Gareth Griffiths (Global Director Campaign Management), in a red velvet jacket visible from outer space, masterfully directed a show that brought his specialist colleagues to the stage: Phonak’s audiology guru, Dr. Stefan Launer; Cristina Cantarell, Managing Director Sonova Germany; Jason Mayer, VP Commercial Sales US.
The show underlined the benefits and advantages of the new Sonova products, for audiology professionals – over 200 filled the Nuremberg auditorium chosen for this event, on the day before the huge EUHA Congress – and for the patient. Eyecatching is a new wax-management system, the patented EasyGuard, a simple wipe-clean dome with a membrane that is acoustically transparent, designed so that hearing aid wearers shouldn’t have to change wax filters. Phonak tests suggest it could mean up to 38% fewer service visits, freeing much time for professionals.
But perhaps the high-point of the evening was the brief but moving intervention, ably guided by Griffiths, of Phonak’s two brand ambassadors, Olympic kayaker Aaron Small, and freeskier Robin Gillon.
