Widex has announced a mobile softward upgrade that will allow users of the MOMENT range to stream music, calls, and other content.
The upgrade to the MOMENT App for Android smartphones means MOMENT hearing aids will work in the same way as traditional Bluetooth headsets and earbuds. The Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) standard used by Widex thooks into Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), saving not only phone battery power, but most importantly for hearing aid users, the power of their devices.
Through Apple's wireless MFi technology, MOMENT also supports ability to stream from Apple iOS devices, as well as other hardward devices through available DEX accessories.
“Supporting ASHA in our award-winning Widex MOMENT product line is a game-changer,” said Nancy Bridges, Product Manager for Widex. “Now, our hearing care professional partners can offer their patients a more natural-sounding hearing aid while simultaneously delivering to them the convenience of direct-streaming from ASHA-compatible Android smartphones.
