Oticon has launched a hearing aid addition to its Essentials category: RUBY. Complete with a new feedback management system, this latest release from the Demant device brand has contact-free inductive rechargeability and 2.4 GHz bluetooth connectivity.
Feedback management, says Oticon, "prevents whistling before it occurs", so fast is the processing involved. " Now, users in the Essential hearing aid category can hug, talk on the phone, or travel in their car without the whistling traditional hearing aids are prone to," says the press release accompanying the launch.
Oticon Ruby is the first Oticon Essentials hearing aid to feature a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Easy charging in three hours provides a full day of power, while a thirty-minute recharge can keep Oticon Ruby powered for up to an additional six hours.
The device's 2.4GHz Bluetooth low energy technology enables connection and streaming from TVs, computers, iPhones, and any other modern smartphone via ConnectClip. It can also be paired with multiple TV adapters so that users can easily switch to streaming high-quality audio from the TV of their choice in their home.
“As we develop new, pioneering technology, we look to ensure that as many hearing aid users as possible reap the benefits,” says Thomas Behrens, Chief of Audiology, Oticon. "Combining the best sound quality that we have ever provided in the Essential category with lifestyle-enhancing features such as rechargeability and a plethora of connectivity options, Oticon Ruby users can enjoy a device that not only works but also improves their everyday life.”
Oticon Ruby behind-the-ear styles join the existing Oticon Siya in-the-ear styles to complete the Oticon Essential portfolio. Oticon technologies incorporated include the SuperShield feedback management system, Noise Reduction LX, Multiple Adaptive Directionality LX, Single Compression LX, Wind noise management, and Tinnitus SoundSupport™. Oticon Ruby is also available as a CROS/BICROS solution.
