Eargo, a new medical device firm on the block since 2017, has launched a direct-to-consumer hearing aid—Neo HiFi—which connects through an accompanying Eargo mobile app to support from the firm's own licensed hearing professionals.

Purchased online or by phone, Neo HiFi has an introductory price of $2,650 with "financing available for as low as $123/month". After March 31, 2020, Neo HiFi will be priced at $2,950 with "financing available for as low as $137/month". Each purchase of an Eargo Neo HiFi comes with a 45-day money back guarantee, two-year warranty and lifetime support by Eargo's licensed hearing professionals.

"We have relentlessly pursued our mission to optimise the quality of life for people living with hearing loss and we continue to do that by removing the barriers that deter them from seeking solutions," said Christian Gormsen, CEO of Eargo. "With Neo HiFi, we set a new benchmark for our products' sound fidelity, providing our customers with easier access to the sounds of life the way they were meant to be heard."

This device's features include new Flexi TetraPalms, an update to Eargo's patented Flexi Palm design, for improved comfort, and a mobile companion app for adjusting the quality of sounds for specific listening environments such as restaurants or concerts. The mobile app is available on iOS at launch and expected on Android in late January.

The company makes two unique claims regarding its hearing aids, firstly that they are "the first and only virtually invisible, rechargeable, completely-in-canal, FDA-regulated, exempt Class I device for the treatment of hearing loss"; secondly, that Eargo's "differentiated, consumer-first solution empowers consumers to take control of their hearing with personalized, high-quality lifetime support from licensed hearing professionals; all packaged with Eargo devices at less than half the cost of competing hearing aids."
