Microsoft is believed to be following Amazon in developing earbud wireless headphones to challenge for the space captured and opened by Apple AirPods.
Bloomberg reported early in April that Amazon would be incorporating its Alexa digital assistant in its own-brand earbuds. Now, the technology podcaster, Paul Thurrot, has suggested that Microsoft will bring out its own response to AirPods, possibly by the end of this year. Both firms will aim to adroitly juggle size, price, sound, and reliability factors.
Last year, Microsoft introduced its wireless Surface Headphones, but the small in-the-ear format is there to challenge for, and the company is likely to build in its Cortana virutal assistant and noice cancellation software.
