AWN special issue welcomes you in Indy!

AudiologyNOW! starts today in Indianapolis. The gathering continues to strike us as an indispensable date for taking the pulse of the profession, and we want to devote this special congress issue to hearing care professionals who have daily contact with end users. It is these frontliners who use such diagnostic tools as audiometers, the subject of our longest feature. These same audiologists also know how important family support can be in treating patients, the role outlined on our pages by Phonak researchers—just one year since we heard about “family-centered care”.

The magazine also reflects what is happening worldwide in the sector. To this end we have interviewed Søren Nielsen, the new CEO of William Demant, while we also have news on the recent joint project by a Spanish university and MED-EL to develop a processor that will improve hearing for CI users. And if implants are your thing, don’t miss our advance briefing on the Iberoamerican Conference on Cochlear Implants and Related Sciences (GICCA).

We wish you a great conference. Enjoy the speakers and presentations, and squeeze the most you can from the program of alternative activities planned by The Academy which, according to Dr. Rebekah F.Cunningham, Program Committee Chair, often tend to be those that bring “immeasurable opportunities for professional growth and personal connections”.

As ever, stay updated by following developments in audiology around the globe via @AudioWorldnews on Twitter and subscribe to our newsletter.

Welcome to Indy!
