Tinnitus UK buzzing after most successful awareness week ever
As many as 100 million people may have been reached by the awareness drive mounted for Tinnitus Week (February 5 to 11) by the UK-based charity Tinnitus UK.
That’s the figure the charity has announced after number crunching its successes in achieving six pieces of television coverage – including the popular breakfast show Good Morning Britain – 36 radio interviews, and three podcasts. The charity’s Tinnitus Week report was featured on BBC Breakfast on Sunday 4 February when Dr. James Jackson, reader in Psychology at Leeds Trinity University, spoke from the famous early morning sofa, and Communications Manager Nic Wray joined via Zoom, both then being interviewed by BBC 5 Live. On Monday February 5 there was a report on Five News featuring Nic Wray, Tinnitus Support Group leader Christopher Nolan, and audiology expert Sue Falkingham. Good Morning Britain also mentioned the report on Wednesday February 7.
UK newspaper coverage of the event included a Guardian podcast report, highlighting the experiences of a tinnitus sufferer trying for relief through cognitive behavioural therapy, as well as news of research by Dr. Lucy Handscomb.
Further coverage took in a report on Medscape UK on how People With Tinnitus Deserve More Empathy From Primary Care.
