Amplifon’s social inclusion programme extends its brand presence in nursing homes to Portugal

Ciao is a programme set up by the Italian group’s Amplifon Foundation with the aim of equipping centres for the elderly with high-quality social connection and entertainment equipment, facilitating communication between residents and their families, and providing opportunities for fun and recreation such as theatre, music, yoga, and virtual travel.

“We decided to launch the Ciao! project in Portugal in the wake of the success we have had in Italy, where in just over three years we have involved around 200 nursing homes from the north to the south of the country and around 20,000 senior citizens,”commented Amplifon Foundation’s Managing Director Maria Cristina Ferradini.

The Portugal phase of this venture initially involves three nursing homes and around 100 people based around the country’s capital city. “The entry into Portugal is the first step in an internationalisation process that aims to bring the Foundation’s social inclusion projects to other countries where the Amplifon group operates, in line with the innovative and global DNA of our company”, commented Susan Carol Holland, President of the Amplifon Foundation.

The project began in 2020 at the height of the Covid pandemic as a response to the prolonged isolation experienced by thousands of nursing home residents because of governments deciding to lock down populations.
