The new cochlear implant (CI) tool is being developed as part of a virtual innovation process with six professionals from India, Canada, the United States and Australia. Known as The Journey of Life, and set for launch in early 2017, the tool will be a professional resource for clinicians to use with children with CIs and their parents to involve them in their own care, help them define the road ahead, and take the necessary steps to succeed.

In telecare, the Institute’s platform is being expanded to include teen and pre-teen versions of three tools: Living Well Online, My Turn to Talk, and Why Improve My Hearing. Ida is also developing mobile-optimized updates for the existing Telecare tools, and the new versions will be launched before the end of this year.

Other new projects include the Transitions Management Framework, a tool aimed at providing references for the major transitions in a child or young adult’s life and what can be done to help in navigating these changes, and a presentation on telehealth and telecare tools for Audiology Online. The Institute also announced a partnership with the Ear Foundation to bring the My World tool to a broader audience, and an updated Advisory Board with two new members.
