According to the report, HMC recently held a graduate ceremony for the new alumni from the three programs offered by the organization. The courses were developed in collaboration with the University of Toronto, Canada. The programs aim to provide evidence-based continuing education to healthcare professionals.

“Our latest batch of graduates under the HMC-University of Toronto initiative demonstrates HMC’s continuing commitment towards building local capacity to deliver the highest standards of hearing healthcare in Qatar,” said Dr. Khalid Abdul Hadi, Program Director and Head of HMC’s Audiology and Balance Center. The Qatari-Canadian initiative was launched back in 2009 to help meet the increasing need for specialized hearing healthcare in Qatar and more widely in the Middle-East region.

15 of the graduates completed the diploma in clinical audiology and a further 14 the diploma in auditory verbal therapy. They include members of staff from HMC’s Audiology and Balance Center but also professionals from elsewhere in Qatar, the Gulf States and other Arab countries, showing the international reach of the center.

Dr. Arnold Noyek, Director of International Continuing Education at the University of Toronto’s School of Medicine applauded the progress made and said, “This is an amazing, remarkable achievement that demonstrates the innovative leadership of Dr. Hadi in delivering these educational activities for the immense benefit of Qatar’s population.” According to Noyek, this is an ongoing initiative that will continue to advance healthcare in the Gulf and beyond.
