Dreve Otoplastik turned the spotlight on two of its latest hearing protection products at the EUHA congress in Hanover, Germany, from October 15-17, 2014.
Customized hearing protection when flying
SkyComfort® earmolds provide the user with customized hearing protection when flying. We all know how unpleasant ear ache can be, given the rapid pressure changes associated with take-off and especially landing, not to mention in-flight noise. SkyComfort® offers individual hearing protection and includes the special pressure-balancing SANOHRA fly-filter that regulates air pressure forces affecting the ears. It reduces irritating noises such as turbine or jet engine sounds that occur throughout the flight and, thanks to the exclusively designed fly-filter, supports the ears in balancing different air pressure levels. During landing, atmospheric pressure at mean sea level of 0 m is usually reached within 25 minutes of descent from a cruising altitude of 30,000 to 40,000 feet. With SkyComfort®, the air pressure increase is extended over 40 minutes, giving the Eustachian tube more time to react and adapt to changes in ambient air pressure. Furthermore, speech intelligibility is maintained, enabling easy communication with travel partners and understanding of in-flight announcements. SkyComfort® was designed for maximum comfort, is easy to insert and remove, and easy to clean. The product is particularly targeted to frequent flyers and those with sensitive ears.
DLO® silicone earmolds with DM filters provide customized hearing protection for music fans.
They are discreet and unobtrusive in the ear and enable a tuned, flat and linear attenuation response for sound through all frequencies. They also make it possible to maintain perfectly natural sound quality. The product offers four filters with different attenuation values. It also provides In-Ear Monitoring in one system: DLO® silicone earmolds with DM filters fit to Hi-Fi DS 11 In-Ear Monitoring headphones for full enjoyment of music. The product was specifically designed for musicians and music fans to be used for instance at concerts, festivals or in nightclubs. The product is has been type-approved as personal protective equipment (PPE) according to Annex II of European Directive 89/686/EEC for professional applications.
During the congress, Dreve also presented other product highlights. These included, a new milling process for the thermoplastic material VarioTherm® in the Dreve earmold laboratory, Otoform® Xpand and T Mixing Canulas, used as innovative impression material and accessories, OtoVita® / Professional and OtoVita® DRYBOX 3.0 Classic, as hygiene and care products for consumers and hearing aid specialists, and the new Polylux LED, especially suited to the polymerization of Fotoplast® resins and Dreve lacquers.
