Dortmund in Germany is the location for a new ultra-modern training centre opened by the hearing device manufacturer Sonova Holding AG.

New high-tech Sonova training centre opens to meet demand for hearing care professionals

The Sonova Academy's 1,800 m2 of space provides hearing studios, seminar rooms, and an earmould lab for attendance classes backed up by eLearning modules as part of a "blended learning approach". This is Sonova's first training and further education centre in Germany. The firm currently operates the Swiss International Hearing Academy (SIHA) in Switzerland and the Sonova Global Hearing Institute in China.

The Academy's portfolio includes programmes for apprentices and retrainees; apprentices and retrainees; journeymen, master craftsmen and master craftsmen aspirants; and specialist shop, district, and regional managers. As part of Sonova's aim to provide highly qualifiied personnel to meet the growing demand for hearing care professionals in Germany, it is working closely with the German Academy for Hearing Acoustics (Akademie für Hörakustik) and the German Vocational School for Hearing Acoustics (Bundesoffene Landesberufsschule für Hörakustiker).

"The opening of the Sonova Academy is an important milestone for us. We see a growing demand for qualified hearing care professionals in Germany. In close cooperation with the existing training institutions in Lübeck, we would like to help meet this need, strengthen the high training standards in Germany and thus further advance the quality of hearing care in Germany," says Andreas Schmidlechner, Managing Director of Sonova Audiological Care in Germany.

Hear the World t-shirts

Meanwhile, a recent promotional and awareness initiative from Sonova involved Sonova employee and Slow Fashion designer Morena Rüfenacht designing a cool t-shirt to support the Hear the World Foundation.

Sonova brand ambassador and popular French model Sophie Vouzelaud presented the t-shirts at a fashion show attended by employees at the company’s headquarter in Stäfa. The organic cotton t-shirts can be ordered online from outside Switzerland by writing to info@hear-the-world.com. Part of the proceeds will go to the Hear the World Foundation.
