Siemens Hearing Instruments researchers were recently awarded the prestigious German Future Prize, for developing a binaural hearing system, enabling users to follow conversations even in noisy situations. The system enables hearing devices in both ears to communicate with one another, a significant step towards spatial hearing.Awarded by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany,Joachim Gauck, the German Future Prize is one of Europe’s highest honours for technology and innovation. Siemens employees, together with research partners from the University of Oldenburg, were personally congratulated by Joachim Gauck during the prize giving ceremony in Berlin. Siemens employees have been in receipt of the prize four times, more than any other company.
