CI manufacturer Nurotron lands in Latin America

In a press release issued early this January, the firm’s leaders announced that four hearing-disabled persons have been equipped with the Venus cochlear implant in Lima (Peru) and La Paz (Bolivia). These are the first patients in Latin America to receive this Chinese system. Surgicorp and Biopro are, respectively, the distributors of Nurotron in Peru and Bolivia.

These implant operations took place at the Delgado Clinic (Lima) where Dr. Javier Rubio, assisted by Dr. Juan Chiossone (in photo, with his team) performed the implant on an eight-year-old girl with sensorineural deafness, as well as on a woman of 58 suffering from progressive hearing loss.

The patients in Bolivia were two brothers, of four and eight-years-old, both with sensorineural deafness, and they received their implants in the Sur de la Paz Clinic.

“These revolutionary operations would not have been possible without the efforts and contribution of Surgicorp, Biopro, and the doctors involved. The chance to work with these people in bringing back hearing to the inhabitants of Latin America is a great opportunity for Nurotron,” declared Chu-Li, CEO of Nurotron.
