BTA Training Events

A two-day Tinnitus Adviser Training course takes places on 3rd and 4th June. This training aims to build on existing experiences to enable participants to become better equipped to help and support people with tinnitus. Led by a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, the sessions include the three stages in the role of offering tinnitus advice: the helping relationship and the patient’s story; establishing shared goals and supporting positive outcomes. It also includes audiological and medical input. This course will be repeated in October in Sheffield.

The second course is Assessment and management of tinnitus in children from 17-18 June at Kenwood Hall Hotel, Sheffield. This course will explore in further detail areas mentioned in the publication Tinnitus in Children: Guidance Practice such as assessment measures, interviewing techniques, explaining tinnitus to children and families, management planning for home and school, relaxation with children and service development.

The tutors aim to make the course practical, with plenty of time for case discussions and sharing ideas. Participants should leave the course with a toolkit that enables them to confidently see and manage children with tinnitus. Participants will be provided with relevant reading prior to attending the course, and active participation and case discussion will be encouraged throughout.

David Stockdale, Chief Executive of the British Tinnitus Association, said: “One of the BTA’s strategic priorities is to encourage and promote the provision of sufficiently trained people for the management and treatment of those with tinnitus, of any age. We are proud to be offering these courses in response to demand from those seeing people with tinnitus in clinics.”

All courses cost £335 for BTA Corporate and Professional Members, and £385 for others and you can book with Krys Klytta, Events Manager on krys@tinnitus.org.uk or call 0114 250 9933. You can also find out more information on the BTA website.
