World Deaf Golf Championship to be held in Denmark

106 golfers from 18 countries will meet at the Copenhagen Royal Golf Club on July 26 - 29 for the World Deaf Golf Championship. The event is organized every second year by the World Deaf Golf Federation.

World Deaf Golf Championship to be held in Denmark

The first World Deaf Golf Championships was held in 1995 in England.

Joachim T. Krøyer, the hearing impaired president of the organization committee and CEO of the Danish Deaf Sports Association says: “A World Championship is one of the most prestigious events in the world of the sports. It’s great for all of us, who love golf, that we’re going to host such an event for deaf people.”

The latest World Deaf Golf Championship was held in 2014 in Michigan, USA. The three winners of the last Championship will be in Copenhagen to compete for the medals. The Danish National Golf Team has six participants. Hans Elgaard from the Danish team is among the favorites to win the Championships.

To ensure a high level around the tournament, the Danish Deaf Sports Association has teamed up with the Danish Golf Union. The e, in collaboration with the main sponsor, the highevent is sponsored by the Danish hearing aid manufacturer Widex.
